Bashundhara Shuvosangho plants 50 trees in Shibchar for environmental preservation
Members of a volunteer organization planted more than 50 seedlings along roads in a rural district on Sunday as part of efforts to address forest coverage shortfalls in the South Asian nation.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho volunteers installed palm, betel nut, and neem saplings in the Umedpur section of Madaripur’s Shibchar subdistrict. Students from Shikdar Bari Pre-Cadet Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage joined the environmental project. Principal Maulana Rafiqul Islam commended the work, noting that the group conducts various community programs in Shibchar.
Local chapter president Ekhlaas Uddin Chunnu said nations require forest cover across one-quarter of their territory for ecological stability, yet Bangladesh maintains under 15 percent. The organization intends to expand plantings at educational facilities, recreational spaces and thoroughfares. General secretary SM Delowar Hossain, joint organizational secretary Ishraqur Rahman and information technology secretary Arfin Mohammad Sajib attended alongside educators and pupils. Volunteers encouraged residents to care for the newly installed specimens as the chapter pursues additional social development work.
