BBC slammed for failing to disclose Hamas link in Gaza doc
Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, ruled that the BBC violated journalistic standards by not revealing that the narrator of its Gaza documentary was the son of a Hamas official. The documentary, “Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone,” was found to be misleading because it did not disclose that the narrator’s father was a deputy minister in the Hamas-run government.
Ofcom said this omission could have damaged trust in the BBC. The regulator ordered the BBC to air a statement about the findings. The BBC apologized and accepted the decision, facing criticism for its coverage of the Gaza conflict.
