Russia proposes $8 billion Bering Strait tunnel to US
Russian presidential aide Kirill Dmitriev has proposed building a rail tunnel under the Bering Strait to connect Russia and the US. He suggested that both countries would gain from the project, which could help with resource exploration, create jobs, and boost economies. Dmitriev invited Elon Musk to join, using his Boring Company to help build the tunnel.
Dmitriev said the project could cost over $65 billion but could be reduced to under $8 billion with Musk’s technology. He also mentioned that the RDIF is ready to contribute. The proposal comes amid improved ties between Russia and the US after years of tension.
