BCB may rethink multi captain strategy

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam Bulbul expressed support for ODI captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz while speaking to reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. The board chief said Miraz requires additional time to mature as a leader despite winning just three of 13 matches since taking charge last year. Bulbul noted that captaincy decisions depend on multiple factors beyond statistics, such as pitch conditions and team composition.

The administrator suggested the organization might abandon its three-captain system across formats. He said one person could lead all three teams or split responsibilities based on what serves Bangladesh best. The board continues discussions about Test leadership after Miraz secured his first ODI series victory against the West Indies. Litton Das currently commands the Twenty20 squad, while the five-day format position remains open for selection.
