Bencic beats Noskova to win Pan Pacific Open title

Belinda Bencic defeated Linda Noskova 6-2, 6-3 on Sunday to capture the Pan Pacific Open championship, claiming her 10th career WTA trophy a decade after losing the same tournament’s final. The Swiss player dominated the Czech sixth seed at Tokyo’s Ariake Coliseum, breaking serve multiple times to secure her second title of 2024 following an Abu Dhabi victory in February.

Bencic’s triumph marked a significant comeback after her 2023 maternity leave, which dropped her ranking outside the top 1,000. The world number 13 showed no fatigue despite difficult matches in previous rounds, seizing control early and maintaining pressure throughout both sets. She clinched the championship with a drive volley and forehand winner, adding to her 2021 Olympic gold medal earned in the same city.
