Litton Das open to Test captaincy if offered
Bangladesh cricket officials are evaluating T20 captain Litton Das to lead the Test squad after Najmul Hossain Shanto resigned from the position in July. Das told reporters on Sunday in Chattogram that team administrators have not contacted him about the role, but he would accept the offer if given the chance to guide the longest format.
The wicketkeeper-batsman said captaining Tests represents a major honor that players rarely decline. Das previously commanded Bangladesh in a 2023 Test against Afghanistan that ended in victory and has won four consecutive Twenty20 series this year.
The cricket board must fill the vacancy before the next Test assignment. Das acknowledged the challenge while expressing openness to discussion with officials about taking charge of the red-ball team.
