Pedestrian killed by falling metro rail bearing at Farmgate

Officials identified the man killed by falling metro rail equipment on Sunday afternoon as Abul Kalam Azad from Kishorkathi village in Shariatpur district. A metal bearing struck Azad’s head as he walked beneath the elevated tracks near Farmgate, causing fatal injuries before bystanders could transport him to a medical facility.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited halted train service between Uttara and Motijheel at 12:30 p.m. after the accident. Authorities have not announced when operations will resume.

Witnesses said the component dropped without warning from the overhead structure. Azad bled heavily at the scene before residents rushed him for emergency treatment, where physicians pronounced him dead.
