BNP condemns attack on campaign, demands swift justice
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned a violent assault during a campaign event for party candidate Ershad Ullah in Chattogram on Wednesday evening. Three individuals suffered gunshot wounds when unidentified attackers fired on the gathering in the Bayezid Bostami area. Sarwar Hossain, also known as Babla and facing multiple criminal charges, later succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital.
Fakhrul stated the shooting aimed to destabilize Bangladesh’s interim administration and disrupt the upcoming national election. He called for strict enforcement against the perpetrators and unity across all citizen groups to safeguard public security. The BNP leader demanded swift apprehension and severe punishment for those responsible while wishing recovery for the wounded. Fakhrul linked the incident to broader attempts at creating chaos following recent political transitions. Ershad Ullah is the party’s nominee for the Chattogram-8 parliamentary seat.
