BNP vows to counter religion-based politics

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said his party will challenge any attempt to inject religious themes into the upcoming national election. He told UNB that BNP remains unconcerned about Jamaat-e-Islami forming coalitions with Islamic political groups but will respond through political means if religion becomes a campaign tool. The party plans to build a national government with democratic allies after the vote.

Fakhrul confirmed that BNP has begun evaluating potential candidates through grassroots assessments across Bangladesh. The party welcomes partnerships with democratic organizations and may accept the National Citizen Party as an alliance member. BNP will share seats generously with coalition partners who field strong contenders for parliamentary positions.

The opposition leader urged Jamaat to reconsider its stance on proportional representation before the election occurs. He stressed that Bangladesh faces economic decline without democratic governance and fair voting procedures. Political disputes should resolve through parliamentary debate rather than street protests that damage the country.

BNP has nearly finished drafting its campaign platform based on 31 reform proposals announced earlier. The manifesto emphasizes job creation, institutional reforms, and social welfare programs. Party leadership aims to establish one crore employment opportunities within 15 months if voters grant them power to govern.
