BOA polls see contests as nominations close
Bangladesh Olympic Association elections will feature competitive races across multiple leadership positions when members convene at Bay-Watch in Cox’s Bazar for voting. Zobaidur Rahman Rana stands unopposed for secretary general after the nomination deadline passed, while Abdus Salam seeks the senior vice president role.
Four candidates are competing for three deputy secretary general positions, including swimming federation official Mahbubur Rahman Shahin and boxing federation representative M.A. Kuddus Khan. The vice president contest includes tennis federation leader Abdul Hai Sarkar and athletics federation head Naeem Ashfaq Chowdhury, while Sarwat Siraj Shukla from the women’s sports association will claim one seat without opposition.
Ninety-two voters will select leaders for the 37-member executive committee through ballots cast during a three-hour window. Candidates face scrutiny through objection hearings before final nomination lists are published ahead of the election at the coastal venue.
