Borisov jokes bars made him a GERB star
GERB leader Boyko Borisov suggested that protests occurring near the National Assembly were aimed at preventing the adoption of a national budget denominated in euros. He claimed the demonstrations, which he linked to the PP-DB coalition, sought to occupy the parliament. Borisov also referenced his own arrest, which he attributed to Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev.
In a further statement, Borisov agreed with a businessman’s remark about prisons forging leaders, adding that his own detention experience helped him restore his party’s power. He ironically proposed amending the electoral law to provide a bonus of 10 to 20 parliamentary seats for all politicians who have spent time in detention.
