Bulgaria set to name Lukoil special manager, PM says
Bulgarian authorities are evaluating candidates to serve as special administrator for Lukoil operations following Friday’s legislative action, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov disclosed on Monday. The government will announce selections after verification procedures conclude and the measure takes effect, with oversight designed to prevent revenue from supporting Russian military activities in Ukraine.
Zhelyazkov dismissed concerns about fuel availability and potential debt risks, asserting the nation maintains adequate petroleum reserves while borrowing remains approximately 30 percent of economic output. State Security Service inspections at refinery facilities represented preventive measures following incidents at European petroleum installations, the official explained.
The prime minister characterized a proposed dividend levy as falling outside conventional tax structure modifications, while defending budget development as an independent government prerogative balanced against social considerations through tripartite consultation processes.
