Bulgaria urges winter car prep ahead of road maintenance start

The Road Infrastructure Agency announced that winter road maintenance would begin, with regional departments monitoring weather conditions. It urged drivers to prepare their vehicles for winter travel and ensure they are in good technical condition. The agency emphasized that safe driving practices, including using suitable tires and avoiding risky maneuvers, are essential for travel safety.

Road maintenance companies are prepared to treat road surfaces as temperatures drop, prioritizing motorways and key routes connecting northern and southern Bulgaria. The goal is to begin snow removal quickly to ensure road passability. The agency also reminded drivers not to block traffic with unprepared vehicles, as this hinders both other motorists and snowplow operations.

The message coincided with the upcoming World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, a United Nations initiative honoring those killed or injured in road accidents.
