Business partners Mpofu, Chimombe face fraud charges over $87M goat scheme
Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe—two businessmen—are in hot water over their alleged role in swindling the Government with the Presidential Goats scheme. The duo, through their company Blackdeck, is accused of fixing the tender process for an $87 million project aimed at helping rural communities. Prosecutors say they tricked the system with fake documents to get the contract, and the evidence supposedly leaves no room for doubt.
But their lawyers are fighting back hard. They claim there’s no direct proof the men intended to deceive, and that Blackdeck—not Mpofu personally—was responsible for the tender. Despite claims of fraud, they insist the State’s case is all smoke and mirrors, lacking real evidence to make the charges stick. The judge will decide next week if these two are really guilty or just victims of a wild conspiracy.
