Geo Pomona boosts fleet with new refuse compactors to tackle waste backlog

Geo Pomona Waste Management Pvt Ltd has ordered additional refuse compactors from China to strengthen its fleet and improve service efficiency. Public relations and marketing manager, Ms Siphathisiwe Masuku, noted that these new trucks will help reduce backlogs and curb illegal dumping in the country.

Despite regular collections, Geo Pomona has observed a rise in illegal dumpsites, often linked to private waste collectors avoiding disposal fees. Masuku highlighted that missed collections, especially in areas not covered in the official schedule, also contribute to the issue. She urged residents and private collectors to use designated disposal sites responsibly. The company’s collection schedule varies by area, with high-density zones receiving more frequent pickups due to higher waste volumes.
