Classmate recalls final moments of stabbing victim in Bandar Utama

A classmate of 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen, who was fatally stabbed at a school in Bandar Utama, shared her final moments. The classmate, 15-year-old Adam, revealed that Yap had asked to go to the toilet during an exam and did not return.

Adam, who spoke after attending Yap’s wake in Kuala Lumpur, said Yap left their classroom on the third floor for the girls’ toilet on the ground floor. When she didn’t return after 20 minutes, the teacher checked and saw the suspect holding a knife in the school’s assembly area, acting strangely. The teacher and the suspect’s older brother managed to restrain him.

Adam remembered Yap as kind, polite, and helpful, and confirmed that neither he nor Yap knew the suspect. Due to the trauma, Adam has not attended school for the past two days. Yap died from stab wounds after being attacked by a 14-year-old schoolmate on October 14. The suspect has been arrested and is in police remand.
