Communications Ministry gets RM2.56 billion to boost connectivity
The Ministry of Communications is set to enhance Malaysia’s communications and connectivity following the 2026 Budget. With nearly RM2.56 billion allocated, the ministry aims to improve infrastructure, boost national values, and support the orange economy.
Among the highlights, RM770 million will fund the Point of Presence (PoP) project to narrow the digital gap in rural areas. RM110 million will go towards supporting local and international film producers, while RM10 million each is set for national content and concerts during Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
The government also plans to invest RM3.99 billion to expand telecommunications, support rural entrepreneurs, and improve disaster readiness. Key projects include the MADANI Submarine Cable and Phase 2 of the National Digital Network, with a focus on better connectivity in healthcare and rural areas.
