Dachev warns of consequences from Lukoil nationalization and budget changes
Businessman Lyubomir Dachev commented on the National Assembly’s decision regarding “Lukoil,” suggesting that the company could appeal the nationalization. He criticized the lack of understanding among politicians, pointing out that managing a refinery requires a global structure and that the visible refinery is just a small part of a much larger operation. Dachev warned that the country is paying heavily for political mistakes, referencing past decisions that have cost Bulgaria significantly.
Dachev also expressed his opposition to the 2026 budget, particularly the proposed increase in the dividend tax. He emphasized the importance of balancing labor and capital to foster investment and economic growth. Dachev criticized the government’s shift in policies, noting that previously made plans are now being discarded, forcing businesses to start over. While he does not foresee becoming poorer, he anticipates reducing production and workforce due to the changes.
