Dario Amodei meets Modi, announces Anthropic’s India expansion

Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-founder of Anthropic, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss India’s role in shaping responsible AI. This meeting follows the company’s announcement of expanding to India with a new Bengaluru office set to open in 2026. Amodei shared that the company plans to hire local talent and collaborate with Indian businesses, nonprofits, and startups in sectors like education, agriculture, and healthcare. He highlighted the importance of how India deploys AI across critical sectors for over a billion people in shaping AI’s future. The Bengaluru office will be Anthropic’s second in Asia Pacific after Tokyo.
