Deadly accidents across Bangladesh leave 20 dead, dozens injured

A series of fatal crashes across Bangladesh claimed at least 12 lives and left more than 30 people with injuries on Tuesday. The deadliest incident occurred in Noakhali’s Kabirhat area when a three-wheeled auto-rickshaw struck a truck head-on near an Islamic school around 2:15 p.m., killing six occupants. Authorities identified the driver as Shah Alam Khokon and three male passengers, while two female victims remained unnamed. Police officer Md Shahien Mia said three died at the scene, while others succumbed to injuries at medical facilities.

Passenger buses traveling in opposite directions collided near Habiganj on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway shortly before midday, resulting in three deaths and approximately 20 wounded travelers. Officer Shuvo Ranjan Chakma reported that emergency crews removed casualties from the wreckage involving vehicles bound for Sylhet and Cumilla. Another collision in Tangail’s Mirzapur area killed two people when a Dhaka-bound bus ran over a rickshaw that had entered the highway after losing control. Separately, railway police recovered the body of a 42-year-old pedestrian struck by the Jamalpur Express in the capital’s northern Uttara section after he wandered onto train tracks.
