Death toll rises to two in Brahmanbaria gang war

A second fatality has been confirmed following armed violence between competing factions in Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar subdistrict, where Mohammad Yasin died from gunshot injuries sustained during weekend hostilities.

The 22-year-old victim from Alamnagar village passed away at daybreak on Monday after receiving wounds two days earlier, according to his brother Shahin Mia. Yasin had been working at a hotel when gunmen burst into the establishment near Gani Shah Mazar late on Saturday evening and began shooting. The assault left him and another employee injured while killing 30-year-old Shipon Mia from Nurjahanpur village instantly. Following that attack, supporters of the deceased man retaliated by raiding homes in Thollakandi village and targeting the workplace of educator Emran Hossain Master.

Authorities stationed officers throughout the affected zones to prevent additional outbreaks of violence, though hostilities between the opposing groups persist. The confrontation erupted around 9 p.m. on Saturday when assailants attacked patrons gathered at the hotel, firing weapons before escaping. Family members transported Yasin’s remains to their home community on Monday morning.
