Dhaka clubs’ cricket boycott will fade, says Asif Mahmud Shojib

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain believes Dhaka-based clubs protesting the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election will return to cricket. He called their boycott a decision made quickly and said the game will continue as scheduled. Shojib explained that clubs are run by many people, not just one person, and the boycott was mostly symbolic. He is confident that practical reasons will bring the clubs back to the field.

The government plans to involve state agencies in club cricket to help reform the system. Shojib also denied that the government influenced the BCB election. He believes that if political parties stay out of cricket, it will protect the sport’s independence.
