Dogan’s party condemns demolition of Boyana Palaces
The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms issued a fierce statement condemning the destruction of the Boyana Palaces complex, which formerly served as headquarters for Ahmed Dogan and his faction. Property owners quietly tore down the structure after evicting Dogan’s supporters from the premises last year.
The alliance characterized the demolition as a calculated assault on Bulgarian democracy and civil society principles. The facility had operated as a training center for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms for over 22 years, hosting thousands of activists who studied human rights advocacy, local governance and civic engagement. Party representatives described the site as central to democratic education rather than merely a physical structure.
Officials accused unnamed actors of attempting to intimidate citizens through this action, comparing current conditions to authoritarian periods when fear dominated public life. The statement labeled the demolition an act of vandalism accomplished through fraudulent paperwork and property manipulation. Alliance leaders urged supporters, civic organizations and international partners to submit formal objections to government agencies, media outlets and European institutions. They framed the incident as a challenge to all Bulgarian democrats regardless of political orientation, warning that silence would signal acceptance of anti-democratic behavior.
