Drone sighting halts flights at Bremen Airport again
Air traffic at an airport in northern Germany was temporarily halted after officials detected an unmanned aircraft in the area, marking another disruption in a series of similar security concerns across the country.
Operations at Bremen Airport stopped for approximately 60 minutes late on Sunday evening when authorities observed the drone near the facility around 7:30 p.m. local time. Police said they could not determine who controlled the aircraft. The number of delayed or canceled departures and arrivals remained unclear.
This incident follows a pattern of drone activity affecting German aviation hubs. On Friday, Berlin Brandenburg Airport suspended operations for nearly two hours because of an unidentified aircraft. Munich Airport experienced similar disruptions twice during 48 hours in early October. German security officials have raised alarms about unmanned aircraft appearing near airports and defense installations throughout 2025. Berlin has suggested that Moscow might be responsible for some activities, though Russian officials have rejected those claims. Similar sightings have occurred at military facilities and infrastructure locations across Norway and Belgium in recent months.
