ECI allocates digital vouchers for Bihar election campaigns
Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday issued digital vouchers to national and state parties for free airtime on Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR). These vouchers allow political parties to broadcast their campaign messages on state-owned channels, aiming to reach a wider audience with their poll promises.
Each party is allotted 45 minutes of free airtime on both DD and AIR, with additional time possible depending on their performance in previous elections. The broadcasts will be scheduled between the publication of contesting candidates’ lists and two days before the election date, through a draw of lots. Parties must submit transcripts and recordings in advance, following technical standards. Additionally, Prasar Bharati will organize debates or panel discussions for the parties.
