Emma Thompson reveals acting was never her plan
Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson has revealed she never planned to be an actor, thinking it was too risky a career. In an interview with HELLO! magazine, the 66-year-old admitted she once wanted to be a hospital administrator before accidentally stumbling into comedy, which eventually led her to acting.
Her latest role in the action thriller Dead of Winter alongside her daughter Gaia was physically demanding, with a lot of running around and cold temperatures in Finland. Thompson also faced the challenge of underwater scenes, where she trained for weeks to hold her breath for several minutes.
Reflecting on the roles for older women in film, Thompson believes mature stars are getting better parts, noting she’s had more interesting roles in her sixties than ever before.
