Fakhrul vows unity for all Bangladeshis

Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir pledged to create an inclusive nation that embraces all ethnic groups if his party wins the upcoming election. He addressed the Wangala festival in Dhaka on Friday and referenced the Rainbow Nation vision from acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s 31-point platform. The Secretary General promised government support for minority cultures through a dedicated academy and official recognition of their celebrations.

Fakhrul connected his commitment to the founder Ziaur Rahman’s Bangladeshi nationalist concept, which united citizens across religious lines. He told the Garo community gathering at Bidyaniketan school that minorities face challenges he aims to address. The politician asked attendees to back BNP’s Sheaf of Paddy symbol despite feeling unwell. Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho told participants that smaller ethnic populations deserve equal respect as Bangladeshis.
