Five arrested in Zubeen Garg drowning case as probe intensifies
The investigation into the accidental death of legendary singer-composer Zubeen Garg is intensifying. Five of the seven accused have been sent to judicial custody for two weeks. The accused include Zubeen’s manager, his cousin, and others involved in the event he attended in Singapore.
The five accused—Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Paresh Baishya, and Nandeswar Bora—were arrested by the special investigation team (SIT) of Assam police. Zubeen tragically passed away on September 19, 2025, in a swimming mishap in Singapore.
Zubeen Garg, a cultural icon of Assam, was known for his songs in Assamese and Hindi films, with hits like ‘Ya Ali’ from Gangster. He sang nearly 38,000 songs in multiple languages over his 30-year career.
