FOCUS gifts Lusekero CBCC in Karonga vital learning tools

Foundation for Community Support Services has provided new learning materials to Lusekero Community-Based Childcare Centre in Karonga District to boost early childhood education. The donation includes play items, kitchen tools, furniture, and other supplies to support better preschool learning at the center.

FOCUS Executive Director Kossam Munthali said the gift followed advice from the District Social Welfare Office, which found many centers lacked play materials. Karonga District ECD Coordinator Katoto Kamwera praised the donation, saying play is vital for children’s learning and growth.

Group Village Head Mwenekabwe thanked FOCUS and shared that the community has set rules to keep the support going, such as replacing broken items and collecting a development fee from families. Lusekero CBCC is one of seven centers supported by the Early Childhood Development Project with help from Chancen Durch Bildung in Germany.
