Njawala torches MBC boss Kasakula over propaganda claims

Felix Njawala sent a letter to MBC Director General George Kasakula warning about the dangers of turning a national broadcaster into a tool for politics. Njawala questioned the network’s trustworthiness and the impact on democracy, pointing out that public media in Malawi must stay neutral and serve the people.

He criticized Kasakula for using MBC to attack critics and political rivals, claiming that such tactics have never stopped change or protected leaders from losing power. Njawala highlighted a recent broadcast calling Dr. Dalitso Kabambe a fraud, arguing this shows desperation and damages MBC’s image. He reminded Kasakula that other media leaders tried similar tricks and failed, naming Steve Maseya and Hope Chisanu as examples.

Njawala urged Kasakula to learn from the past and choose a path of professionalism over short-term politics. He stressed that biased reporting weakens public trust and threatens democracy. Njawala’s letter finished by calling on all journalists to defend honesty and responsibility, warning that history will judge those who value party over truth.
