Gasperini focuses on Champions League spot as Roma prepare for Inter clash

AS Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini emphasized his team’s goal of qualifying for the Champions League this season, stating that winning the Serie A title is no longer the main focus. Speaking before the match against Inter Milan, Gasperini explained that the financial benefits of Champions League qualification have shifted the focus toward securing a top-four finish rather than competing for the title.

Gasperini noted that while there are technical goals to pursue, the immediate focus is on the upcoming high-level match against Inter. He acknowledged that Inter, along with Napoli, is one of the best teams in Serie A, and facing them is a significant challenge.

He highlighted that playing strong teams like Inter helps assess Roma’s true competitive level. Despite some absences in Inter’s squad, Gasperini expects a determined opponent looking to regain its balance and move up the standings. He called the match a great opportunity to gauge Roma’s level.
