Gautam Gambhir demands fiery pitches after Delhi win
Gautam Gambhir said the pitch at Arun Jaitley Stadium could have been better after India beat the West Indies. He wants pitches that help fast bowlers and give carry to the wicketkeeper, noting India has top pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. India’s team is looking for more even pitches, especially after last year’s losses on turning tracks. In Ahmedabad, India won the first Test in three days, but the New Delhi pitch was tough for bowlers.
India’s bowlers worked hard for almost 200 overs on a slow pitch, which tired the team. Fast bowlers found some reverse swing, while spinners used patience and skill to get wickets. Gambhir also praised West Indies for fighting back in the second Test and making big scores. He wants young players like Nitish Reddy to gain experience at home, not just on foreign tours.
Gambhir said it’s good to let new players play longer and build confidence, rather than switching them out often. He feels it is important to choose players with the right attitude and support them as they grow. When a player is left out, Gambhir says he feels for them and wants to treat everyone with care. He believes the team showed strong effort, especially in England, and that is a big positive.
