Gold price drops again after recent hike
Gold prices dropped by 1,038 taka per bhori in Bangladesh as jewellers adjusted rates following declines in the local market. The Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association made the announcement after a meeting of its pricing committee on Sunday. The new rate stands at 207,957 taka per bhori, which equals 11.664 grams. This marks the second reduction within a week after prices fell by 8,387 taka on Wednesday.
The precious metal reached a record high of 217,382 taka per bhori on Oct. 20 before the recent decreases began. Each grade of gold saw corresponding adjustments, with 22-carat priced at 17,829 taka per gram and 21-carat at 17,018 taka per gram. Traditional gold will sell for 12,131 taka per gram under the new structure that takes effect on Monday.
Silver prices remained stable across all categories. Buyers must pay an additional 5 percent value-added tax along with a minimum 6 percent making charge that varies by design.
