Government keeps GP consultation fee at RM10 despite MMA’s backlash
The government has decided to keep the lowest consultation fee for doctors at RM10. This helps people, especially those without insurance, pay for treatment. Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the move shows the government cares about making sure everyone can get basic medical help.
The government also raised the highest fee for consultations to RM80. This allows doctors to charge more for longer or harder visits. The change aims to encourage doctors to give better care, especially for common health problems like diabetes or high blood pressure.
Dr Dzulkefly said the adjustment helps doctors manage non-communicable diseases better. He also pointed out the importance of trust between doctors and patients.
