Govt forms probe into metro rail bearing pad detachment
Authorities established a committee to investigate why a bearing pad separated from a metro rail pillar in Farmgate. Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan announced the probe on Sunday while viewing the victim’s remains at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
The five-member panel will assess whether sabotage or faulty construction caused the failure. The Bridges Division Secretary leads the group, which includes professors from BUET and the Military Institute of Science and Technology. Engineers from the Roads and Highways Department and the Metro Rail Project complete the team.
The committee will examine findings from an earlier inquiry after a similar failure occurred at the same location last September. Khan said officials will act once investigators finish their work and submit recommendations.
