Gujarat farmer receives Rs 2 crore subsidy for Gir cows

Dharmendra Kanha Bhai, a livestock farmer from Gujarat’s Jamnagar district, has received a special Rs 2 crore subsidy to expand his Gir cow farming. Known for raising 2,500 Gir cows, he was recognized under the ‘Rashtriya Gokul Mission’, a government scheme aimed at promoting indigenous cow breeding and boosting milk production to improve farmers’ income and rural economies.

Dharmendra shared his experience of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, where he received a 50% subsidy under the scheme. He explained how the government’s support helped him establish a high-quality cattle farm. He also gifted 63 calves to tribal families practicing organic farming and distributed 18 to other organic farmers.

Dharmendra expressed his gratitude for being invited by PM Modi, calling it the most memorable experience of his life. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s personal attention to farmers’ issues, describing the meeting as a moment of recognition for ordinary farmers.
