Gwanda gears up for city status by 2026 with growth
Gwanda is charging ahead with its goal of achieving city status by 2026, as the once-small mining town is rapidly transforming into a bustling urban center. The town is seeing a construction boom, with new commercial buildings and shopping complexes sprouting up, driven by investor confidence and a supportive environment under the Second Republic.
Local entrepreneurs, like Clive Dube, are playing a key role, inspired by President Mnangagwa’s vision for modern infrastructure. Dube’s new shopping mall is a prime example of this growth, creating jobs and improving services in the town.
Mayor Thulani Moyo and Minister Albert Nguluvhe are optimistic, noting that Gwanda’s development is in line with its plan for city status, reflecting the hard work and unity of the community. With continued investments in infrastructure, waste management, and new markets, Gwanda is well on its way to becoming a city.
