Harare fitness trainer steals $5,000 from client’s car
Tinashe Gandari, a fitness trainer at Profitness Gym in Borrowdale, Harare, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing $5,000 from a client’s car. The victim, Allen Tatenda Badzarugere, was working out when Gandari took his car keys and stole the money from his Mercedes-Benz’s glove compartment. Tatenda later discovered the theft after finishing his session and suspected someone had access to spare keys.
In a separate incident, David James Gentleman, 35, had $34,700 stolen from his Ford Ranger in Southerton. He was only away from his vehicle for a minute when the break-in occurred, and his passenger window was shattered.
Police are investigating both thefts, with a total of $39,700 stolen from these two incidents. Inspector Luckmore Chakanza urged people not to leave valuables in parked cars.
