ZDF commits to IPSAS adoption for better financial management
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) is committed to adopting the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) by December 2025. Major General Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi, ZDF Chief of Staff Administration, spoke at the end of a week-long IPSAS training workshop for 200 logistics and equipment management personnel at Jason Ziyapapa Moyo Air Base.
He explained that the workshop was part of national efforts to improve public finance management and accountability. The adoption of IPSAS is key to managing critical assets like land, buildings, and equipment responsibly. Participants were trained on inventory, property, and equipment management and were encouraged to apply this knowledge to improve financial practices across the Defence Ministry. Major Tapfumaneyi thanked the Ministry of Finance for its support and stressed the importance of building public trust.
