Harmanpreet elects to field as India face Bangladesh
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bowl first after winning the toss against Bangladesh in their Women’s World Cup match on Sunday at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Rain pushed back the scheduled start by 35 minutes, with play set to begin at 3:55 p.m. Bangladesh Standard Time before more showers brought the covers out again.
Bangladesh entered the contest already eliminated after losing five straight matches following an opening victory over Pakistan. India had already clinched a semifinal spot and was aiming to carry that momentum into the knockout rounds.
India gave wicketkeeper Uma Chetry her first cap while resting Kranti Gaud, Sneh Rana, and Richa Ghosh. Bangladesh brought in Sumaiya Akter to replace Fargana Hoque. Radha Yadav and Amanjot Kaur returned to the Indian lineup.
