Haryana IPS suicide case deepens with officer’s death

Amid the controversy surrounding Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar’s suicide, investigation officer Sandeep Lathar also took his own life, leaving behind a three-page suicide note and a video. Lathar, who had been investigating corruption charges against ADGP Puran Kumar, alleged that the senior officer was corrupt in his note.

Following the incident, Haryana’s DGP Shatrujeet Kapur was placed on leave, and Om Parkash Singh took over the role. Meanwhile, the Chandigarh Police registered an FIR after Puran Kumar’s wife, Amneet P. Kumar, sought action against the officers mentioned in her husband’s final note.

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, visited the family and urged Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against the officers responsible for caste-based discrimination and fulfill their commitments to the grieving family.
