IDCOL resumes financing for solar irrigation pumps to decarbonize agriculture
On October 14, 2025, Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) resumed its financing for Solar Irrigation Pumps (SIPs), marking a major step toward decarbonizing Bangladesh’s agriculture. IDCOL signed a partnership agreement with WAVE Foundation, which received BDT 34.9 crore in financing from KfW, Germany, to implement 56 SIPs in Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, and Kushtia.
IDCOL’s CEO, Alamgir Morshed, emphasized their goal to deploy 10,000 SIPs by 2030. The event featured speeches from key figures, including Michael Sumser-Hellstern from KfW and Engr. Md. Muzibur Rahman from SREDA.
With 1,495 SIPs already in place, IDCOL’s efforts are cutting carbon emissions and reducing irrigation costs for over 70,000 farmers, leading Bangladesh toward a greener, more energy-secure future.
