IGCC celebrates Lalon Shah’s legacy with music and tribute to Farida Parveen

The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) hosted a special “Lalon Sandhya” event at the Liberation War Museum, celebrating the music, philosophy, and memory of Lalon Shah. The evening started with a tribute to the late Farida Parveen, a leading figure in Lalon music, highlighted through a video of her performance.

Indian High Commissioner Pranay Kumar Verma spoke about Lalon Shah’s role in uniting India and Bangladesh through his spiritual and cultural influence. Musicians, cultural activists, and Baul music lovers gathered to honor Lalon’s legacy.

The program featured performances from Gazi Abdul Hakim, Nasreen Akhter Beauty, and others, with a lecture on Lalon’s philosophy by Abdel Mannan. The event ended with a lively performance by Sumy and her band.
