India fined for slow over-rate in World Cup loss
The India women’s cricket team was fined 5% of their match fee for a slow over-rate in their Women’s ODI World Cup match against Australia. The team was one over short of the allotted time during the game, where Australia made a historic run chase of 331 runs with six balls remaining. Umpires raised the issue, and under the ICC Code of Conduct, a 5% fine applies for each over missed. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur accepted the penalty, and no formal hearing was required, as the fine was imposed by ICC referee Mitchell Pereira.
