India, Guatemala strengthen ties in defence and health sectors

Indian Ambassador to Guatemala, Raj Kumar Singh, recently held meetings with Guatemalan Ministers to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the defence and health sectors. Singh met with the Minister of Public Health, Joaquin Barnoya, to discuss expanding collaboration in biotechnology, Ayurveda, medical tourism, and low-cost generics under PMBJP. He also shared plans to donate 650 custom-made prosthetic limbs to Guatemala.

Singh also met Guatemalan Defence Minister Henry David Saenz Ramos to explore defence ties and cooperation in space technology, early warning systems, and capacity building. India and Guatemala have had diplomatic relations since 1972, with a celebration held in May marking the 53rd anniversary of their ties.

The Indian Embassy’s efforts also include organizing an artificial limb fitment camp in Guatemala, where over 600 prosthetic limbs will be distributed to those in need.
