India-Pakistan Women’s ODI World Cup clash sets viewership record

The India-Pakistan clash in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup has set a new record as the most-watched women’s international cricket match ever, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The match, where India won by 88 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, reached 28.4 million viewers and amassed 1.87 billion minutes of watch time.

It also became the highest-rated league stage match in ICC Women’s ODI World Cup history in terms of television viewership. The India-Australia match on October 12 saw 4.8 million peak concurrent viewers on JioHotstar, another record for women’s cricket.

Overall, the tournament has seen a surge in viewership, with the first 11 matches delivering a reach of 72 million, marking a 166% increase from the previous edition. The total watch-time has reached 7 billion minutes, a 12-fold increase from 2022. The tournament is available on Star Sports and JioHotstar in five languages, including Indian Sign Language for inclusivity.

India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, is currently in fourth place in the points table with four points from four matches. To secure a semi-final spot, they must win their remaining league games against England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh.
