India Post resumes all international postal services to the USA from October 15
The Department of Posts announced on Tuesday that all international postal services to the United States will resume from October 15. This follows the suspension of services in August 2025 due to new US regulations requiring customs duties on postal shipments, introduced by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
India Post has developed a system to ensure compliance with these regulations. All applicable customs duties will now be collected upfront in India at the time of booking and sent directly to CBP, ensuring faster customs clearance and smooth delivery. The duty, set at 50% of the declared value, will be paid in advance, making the process more affordable for exporters, especially MSMEs and small traders.
Importantly, there will be no additional charges for customers, and postal tariffs will remain the same. The resumption allows customers to book various types of international mail, including EMS, Air Parcels, and Registered Letters, through various Post Offices or the Self-Service Portal. This change supports India’s export initiatives, including “Make in India” and “One District One Product.”
