Intel, AMD mark x86 pact with AVX10, ChkTag
Intel and AMD have marked one year since forming the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group, created to unify and modernize the x86 platform. The group aims to improve consistency, compatibility, and developer experience across a wide range of x86-based devices.
Over the past year, they have finalized several key features. FRED offers a faster, more reliable interrupt model. AVX10 provides a standardized instruction set for high-throughput computing across all CPU tiers.
ChkTag introduces hardware memory tagging to catch memory safety issues without hurting performance. ACE brings matrix math support to all x86 platforms, from laptops to servers.
The group plans to expand its members, explore new instruction set features, and ensure long-term platform stability.
