Iran slams Trump’s peace call amid US strikes on nuclear sites
Iran responded Tuesday to U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for a peace deal, saying it contradicted the U.S.’s actions, particularly its strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in June. The Iranian foreign ministry called Trump’s desire for dialogue “inconsistent” with Washington’s “hostile and criminal behavior” toward Iran.
In June, Israel’s bombing campaign on Iran, which targeted nuclear and military sites, killed over 1,000 people. The U.S. also struck key Iranian nuclear facilities, disrupting nuclear talks between the two nations. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Israel, leading to a ceasefire on June 24.
Iran dismissed Trump’s peace offer, questioning how the U.S. could call for peace after killing civilians. Tehran also criticized Trump’s remarks about Iran’s support for terrorism, accusing the U.S. of being a leading backer of the “terrorist and genocidal” Israeli regime.
