Israel warns Hamas to uphold ceasefire or face resumed fighting

On Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that Israel would resume fighting in Gaza if Hamas fails to uphold the ceasefire terms. The warning came after Hamas returned the remains of two Israeli hostages. Katz emphasized that if Hamas doesn’t comply, Israel, with U.S. support, will act to defeat Hamas and achieve the war’s objectives.

Hamas stated it had met its obligations by releasing all living hostages and the remains it could access, but further recovery requires special equipment. While Hamas assured continued cooperation, political pressure in Israel remains high for the return of all hostages’ remains.

The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt remains closed for now, and Israel confirmed it had returned 45 Palestinian bodies. Meanwhile, humanitarian aid remains a key issue, with the UN urging Israel to open all Gaza crossings. The situation remains tense, with both sides facing pressure over the ceasefire’s future.
